Science and art were more-or-less synonymous in past ages. 

Today, science and art are completely divorced from each other.  

Beauty, for modern science, offers not the smallest avenue toward knowledge.

Insightful programs should strive for a harmony between the two.

The world is much more an an interdisciplinary place, and experts in different branches of knowledge comfortably mine each other for ideas and information once thought alien or irrelevant.
